I checked the blog today, and I couldn't believe how long it had been since we updated. I know that I keep apologizing for our lack of commitment, but I'll do it one more time, just because I am Canadian! Sorry all!
Weren't the Olympics great?!! I don't think I have ever been so proud to be from this country!! What an amazing group of athletes we have! Chris and I were glued to the events every evening and lot's during the day, when we could take it in that is. I loved everything about it...the opening ceremonies, the feel of the wonderful patriotism across this wonderful country, of course the events, the hockey (which is something that I don't say that often!!), and of course the closing ceremonies. I loved how they made it so humorous. I thought it was so original and unique...very very proud!
Anyway, on to the events going on in our lives, not quite as excited as the Olympics. Estella has changed leaps and bounds over the past two months. She is 8 months old now and still a little peanut! She is getting a bit chubbier, but she will never be like Sari was. She just burns so much energy during the day that no chub can stick! About two weeks ago she started to crawl, and within that first week she also was standing up beside everything that wouldn't move! The next week she started to crawl up the stairs, probably because Sari would sit at the top of them and tease her until she started to climb them. So, now I have a little mover that I have to constantly follow around just to make sure she isn't crawling up the stairs or standing at the fire place. It keeps me busy, that's for sure! She is just such a little mover. Life is going to get really difficult once she starts walking!! Oh well, more calories burnt each day for me!! Poor little thing has really been struggling this past week with teeth. She still only has the two on the bottom, but woke up on Friday so congested and has been dripping snot and drule ever since. I feel so bad because she is so unhappy and uncomfortable. Sari never struggled like this. Nothing ever seemed to phase my oldest, she was just always in a good mood! Estella really has become a much happier and easier baby though within the past couple of months. She is napping well both in the morning and the afternoon and is only usually getting up once at night now. She constantly smiles and LOVES her sister. Her little face just lights up when Sari enters the room. Sari has really enjoyed starting to play with her now as well. Estella is far more interactive now which makes it easier for Sari to play with her. However, it seems like all I say all day is 'give Estella her toy back', or 'quit taking toys from your sister'. Sari has quite learned how to share. I'm sure it will be like this for the rest of their lives though! As I am writing this Sari is standing over Estella and tickling her and they are both screeching!! It melts my heart!
Saris is her usual outgoing and talkative self. I swore that I would never tell either one of my children to stop talking or to be quiet for just 5 minutes, because it made me so sad whenever anyone did that to me when I was young, but I do it all the time!! I just can't help it, Sari just never stops talking!! I guess God really does have a sense of humor and blesses you with children that are more like ourselves than we would like to admit! She definitely is a lot like her father though, not just her mom! Sari is still obsessed with princesses. I got her a dress up box with princess dresses and accessories a couple of weeks ago and I swear, every morning since then the first thing she does after she wakes up is put on her princess tiera and and carries around her wand. She is a born diva! I am looking forward to all the little spa days we are going to have together. She is a girl through and through...I love it! Just a couple of weeks ago I went with Sari, Carrie and Ella to Princesses on Ice. The look on Sari's face when all the different Princesses came out was so priceless. I don't think I will ever forget it. She loved it so much! I am so glad that we are able to do things like this with our kids. It won't be long now and Estella will be joining Sari and I on our girls nights out! I can't wait!
Chris and I are now working on the family room, office and bathroom on the main floor. The office is pretty much finished and everything has been taken out of the family room now. Hopefully it will be finished within a couple of weeks. We would like to have it all done by Sari's birthday party, but I'm not sure we're going to make that goal. It is going to look so sharp once it is done though...I can hardly wait! I hate living in chaos, and that is what it is like right now at our house. I am used to having two rooms to have our stuff spread through, but just one is really annoying! After this project it is on to the basement. We have decided to finish that before we carry on with the rest of the main level and upstairs. We need more space for Sari and her friends to play. The really do need their own area to go so that they can be silly and messy and we don't have to have it up stairs when us adults are trying to visit!! I think by the end of the year it should all be accomplished. Maybe even more than our goal will be finished, who knows!
Alright, the kids are in bed and I have to go and wash the floors before I go to bed. Boooo! We have been taking pictures like mad lately so once we download them I will get Chris to post a whole bunch. Don't worry, it won't take two weeks or anything!
