4 Month Old Check-Up...

Today was Sari's 4 month old birthday and she celebrated by going to the doctor for her needles and check-up...lucky girl!! She's such a trooper. She hardly cries when getting the needles and just laughs when the doctor is checking her out. I have to be bias and say that I have SUCH a good baby! Sari weighed in at 16lbs. 11oz. and grew 2 inches from her last check-up to 26 inches. She only gained about 2-1/2 lbs. since her last appointment but grew 2 inches. She is in the 95th percentile. Maybe she'll be tall, that would be great!! I always wanted to be tall, but no such luck!

Chris and I went up to the lake this past weekend and played in the Grey Owl golf tournament. I actually golfed and had fun! I am a pretty good putter, but not so strong in the rest of the game. Oh well, it was my first time out. Sari had fun with Grandma Brenda for the afternoon but came to meet us later during the dinner. Sari has been gnawing away at her hand, or pretty much anything that is close by lately, so Sharon, (as seen in the pics below) gave her a piece of celery when I wasn't looking to let her chew on that. She LOVED it! I think she loved how cold it was and the fact that it was hard and not squishy like her fist. I didn't mind. Its not like she can bite down and eat it or anything. She just looked so cute doing it. Sari has also fallen in love with chip bags. She loves to chew them and crinkle them in her hands. We have a cute video of her doing it and Chris is actually taking pictures as I am writing this...I'll post those pics later.

Fun In the Sun!!

Is Everyone Enjoying the Weather??!! Its been too hot for Sari and I to get outside during the week, but on Sunday the weather was perfect to take Sari outside and give her her first experience in the kiddie pool! After I made Chris quit watching the golf game early to run to Superstore to get a pool, we got busy getting everything ready in the backyard. The preparation was probably a good hour by the time everything was ready, only to have Sari "enjoy" her first pool experience for about half an hour...well worth it if you ask me!! She wasn't too sure what to think of sitting in the pool. She loves her bath, but in that she is laying down and can splash around. I'm sure in another couple of months when she can sit up by herself she'll enjoy the pool more.

Sari has discovered her feet and her left ear. As soon as you lay her on the floor or lay her down to change her diaper, up go the feet and her little hands grab them as if to say "oh there you are!" When her diaper is off she grabs her feet and immediately puts her toes in her mouth. She has also been holding her left ear lately. Its very cute watching her discover all her little body parts. What she must be thinking! Sari is also desperately trying to roll over. She gets so frustrated because she is so close, but her little arm constantly gets in the way. I help her roll all the way over and once she is on her tummy she lets out a little giggle. Its very cute!

One Week And No Bites...

If everyone didn't know already, Chris and I put our house up for sale one week ago today. Scary...I know! We found a really good deal on a larger house that will allow for a growing family. (not any time soon if you're all wondering!) This is another fixer-upper home that I'm sure will once again bring us to the brink of divorce court, but we thought it was worth the excitement!! :) The scary part is the possession date for this home is August 1st, so we are scrambling to sell our house as quick as possible. I have never seen Chris work so hard to get all the little things done around here...I should have pretended to put the house up for sale months ago!! So far no bites on our house, but there has been a few showings. We are keeping our fingers crossed though. We'll keep you all updated on the progress that we make.

As for Sari, she is doing wonderful as usual. Her and I have been spending quite a bit of time alone together lately with Chris being busy at work and with the house. We got her an exersaucer and she has been really loving that. At first she wasn't to sure whether or not she wanted to grab at the toys that were on it, but she has grown a lot more confident and stable and has started to play with them. She is just becoming so funny! She loves to fake cough and laughs at herself after she does! I can hardly wait to see what these coming months will bring!

What A Great Weekend!

We had a very fun filled and special weekend this past weekend. It started out by Grandma and Grandpa Potter coming for a visit bringing along cousin Ben. They arrived Saturday afternoon. We had a great time. Ben learned how to "make" corn...meaning, he learned how to shuck corn. We had a nice evening cooking a great meal and enjoying each others company. Sunday was a day to remember. Chris and I had Sari dedicated on Sunday. Friends of ours, (some of you might remember them from our wedding) Mark and Sherridan Anderson, along with their little girl, Hailey, came over to my parents and Mark performed and very sweet and special dedication ceremony. It was perfect! We had all the immediate family there that was able to make it and a few of our closest friends. It was small and intimate, just like we wanted. God has blessed us so amazingly with Sari that we wanted to publicly thank him and acknowledge the amazing responsibility that he has blessed us with, also asking his hand on her for the rest of her life. Mark did a wonderful job and we just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU!! The service was followed by a very yummy brunch. We all stuffed ourselves silly and enjoyed each others company for a good part of the afternoon. Thanks to my mom and dad for allowing the use of their house for this! We even managed to get 4 generation pictures on both Chris and my side of the family!

Sari is doing wonderful. We have started to change things up a bit in her routine that she is adapting to, but not necessarily liking very much. As I have said in previous postings, my little girl doesn't like to sleep for long periods of time during the day, but I accept it because she sleeps a lot at night. Well, for the first 3 months of her life I would generally rock her to sleep and put her down anywhere that she would stay asleep. That has all changed. I now put her in her crib and zip her into her sleep sack when she is showing the signs of being tired. She hates it and cries but will eventually cry herself to sleep. Don't worry, I don't leave her all afternoon or anything! What else...hmmm...she is starting to notice and grab for things in front of her now. She enjoys playing on the floor more now and having the room to kick around. She is getting to be so strong! She already will, once in a while, try to roll over. She doesn't quite make it, but gets and 'A' for effort! She is growing way to quickly. I was going through her clothes the other day and was putting the stuff that is already to small on her into a storage bin. I have to admit, I was getting a little sad and having a little bit of separation anxiety. I just can't believe that she has already grown out of the stuff we had for her when she came home from the hospital. Time flies.

Bumbo Fun!!!!

The Potter house is loving summer!! It seems like it is finally here!

Auntie Heather has returned safely back to Australia and things around our house have quieted down somewhat.

We have started to put Sari in the baby Bumbo and she seems to be really liking it. Her neck is getting stronger and stronger everyday, but isn't quite strong enough to sit in the Bumbo for long periods of time. She just loves sitting up, standing and pretty much being as independent as possible, and she loves the freedom that the Bumbo gives her.

I Can't Believe The Two Weeks Is Almost Over...

Well, it's Thursday and the day after tomorrow Heather leaves for Winnipeg to catch her flight back to Australia on Sunday. The two weeks has gone by so quickly...we don't want it to end. We have had a fabulous time with Auntie Heather. Sari just loves her and lights up whenever Auntie enters the room! We have been busy visiting here in Brandon and spending time up at the lake. Sari likes the lake, but doesn't like the bugs...or is that her mother!! I don't have a whole lot to say, just that we have been having such a great two weeks.

Sari is growing like crazy and changing daily. She "talks" like crazy and has really learned to love her play time on the floor, kicking and trying so hard to roll over. She makes her daddy and I laugh every day. I think that she is going to have quite the funny bone like the rest of the Potters! I can't believe that she is going to be 3 months old on Saturday! Where has the time gone?! We love her more and more every day. How did we ever live without her?!

Welcome Home Auntie Heather!!!

Well, life at the Potter home has just been a flurry of excitement!! On Saturday we all welcomed my sister Heather home from Australia for a two week visit!! Way to short if you ask me! Ever since then life has been busy visiting and throwing parties...poor girl isn't getting the chance to get over jet-lag at all!

We celebrated Father's Day on Sunday over at my parents house. Heather got to hold Sari for the first time and I don't think put her down all day...well, except for when she cried and crapped her pants! Its so nice being the parent, we get to do all the dirty work! We had a wonderful time visiting with family. Last night Chris and I threw a party for Heather giving her a chance to see her friends and catch up. It was sooo much fun. I wish we had taken more pictures though. A good time was had by all...especially Uncle Spanky, (aka..Jason), he was starting 36 days of holidays and decided to celebrate! Sari really enjoyed her first party! I was really impressed with how well she did. Even with all the loud talking, laughing and doors slamming, (thank you Uncle Spanky!), she didn't wake up once! Who said you can't have loud parties and stay up late with kids?!! Chris and I were pretty tired this morning, but it was well worth it!

Sari is loving her Auntie Heather! I'm so glad that she was able to meet her Auntie before December. We love having Heather home and are not looking forward to her leaving again. Oh well, I guess that's the sacrifice that has to be made so that she can accomplish her dreams!

Hangin' Out With Friends...

Well, not a whole lot to report. We are loving the nice weather and getting out as much as we can to enjoy it!

I have started to go power walking with a friend of mine, Tannis, who had a baby 6 weeks before I did, to aid in the losing baby weight challenge. We try to go every day during the week and do approximately 4 miles each time. The dads so graciously volunteer to get together and look after the kids while we are out on our walk. I personally think it is just an excuse for them to get together, socialize, and have a beer after work...whatever works though! The last time we were there we snapped a few photos of the kids. I have posted a few for you all to enjoy.

Happy Two Month Birthday...Yesterday!!

Holy smokes does time ever fly!!

Yesterday was Sari's 2 month birthday. We didn't have a party or anything, we figured she was a little young for cake! I can't believe how quickly time is flying. Every day she becomes more and more aware of her surroundings, and LOVES to carry on conversations with her mom and dad. I imagine that she'll be a talker like her parents...poor kid didn't stand a chance!! :)

Today was Sari's first immunizations at the doctors. It broke my heart. I couldn't even watch, Chris had to hold her legs still. But, she was a brave little girl and hardly cried at all. She has been soaking it up all day though. I think she knows that I felt bad, and all day has refused to be put down. I am such a softy! Our little girl sure is getting big though. She weighed in at 14 lbs. 2.5 oz. and was measured at approximately 23.5 inches long. She has gained quite a bit of weight since being born but has only grown an inch. She is, however, in the 90th percentile for both weight and height for her age. No wonder she eats so much!!

Not much else to report in the Potter house. We are desperately awaiting the sunny and warm weather, as I'm sure everyone else in Manitoba is as well. Chris and I have gone on a little bit of a health kick to both try and lose our baby weight, so my challenge to all you blog readers...if you have any yummy, but healthy recipes that you would like to share with us, I will attempt to cook it and let you all know how it went. Key word is yummy though!!! I am determined to have my bikini body back by July! We'll see if I'm living in a dream world or not!!

Fun Day in Deloraine!!

Well, yesterday we packed up the car and headed to Deloraine to see Great-Grandpa Schoonbaert. We met Grandma and Grandpa Potter, Auntie Carrie, Uncle Gord and cousins Ben and Ella there for a nice afternoon of family time. This was the first time that Grandpa Schoonbaert met Sari, so it was a really special day. We went for lunch when we got there and then headed back to the apartment for a nice afternoon visit. Even though it was a very rainy day, Ben and Chris managed to get outside and play in the trees! (see pictures below)

All in all, in was a great day, minus the rain. Sari was very good...she's becoming quite the little traveller! It was great to see Grandpa Schoonbaert. He looks great and is doing really well.
